Spice storage is an issue I never thought until I was a jar of salt in the season upside down and nothing came, they could see the salt of the season, but not moving.
Spice was obsolete?
It was the zone temperature is stored?
Was there too much moisture in the storage area?
There are a number of reasons why this could have happened, but I think these are

I'm not a great chef, I am not a chef to all and my thinking is limited because I think if you can not do with these spices and condiments (pepper, season salt, garlic salt, cayenne pepper and onion salt) not worth it. No wonder I never thought or attention to the storage of spices.

Spice Storage of Information
Herbs and spices should be stored in hermetically as glass bottles, plastic containers or cans
Herbs can be stored for 6 months.
Herb / Spice Blends can be stored for 1 year.
Spices, ground can be stored for 6 months.
Spices, everything can be stored for 1-2 years.
Vanilla extract can be stored for 2 years.
All other extracts can be stored for 1 year.
The best storage temperature for spices is constant and below 70 degrees Fahrenheit.
Excessive moisture or humidity can cause your spices, condiments, and herbs are grouped together or stuck up.
We've all seen the spices in our cabinets that we have not used in a long time after the expiration of this article be thrown away. If you are unsure of the date of purchase of condiments and spices businesses can let you know this information is sometimes the packaging or barcode in the product.
My suggestion to you if the spices game is not up to par, start with one of the pre-loaded storage racks for spices as these will provide with basic spices.
